Tireve & Dyrfal

Steve and Hazel are retiring from their building and civil enginering company this year and intend in 2012 to offer new and not so new Welsh Pony and Cob enthusiasts the opportunity of weekly or longer stays at the stud.

Guests will be free to observe and participate ,alongside the family, in daily life on the stud including foaling, covering, trimming, show and sale preparation etc. etc.
Their will also be ample time, if you so desire, for exploring this beautiful part of West Wales; the stud being on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park .

Lampeter, Glanusk, Aberystwyth, Cothi Bridge and the Royal Welsh shows are within an hours travel of Tireve with a host of other smaller horse and agricultural shows, within easy distance, throughout the summer many of these being held mid-week. The Spring, Fayre Oaks and Autumn Cob Sales are only 45 minutes away.  Arrangements can also be made for you to visit many of the other famous West Wales Studs ,again many of these being within an hour of Tireve.

Guests will have their own en-suite bedroom next to the farmhouse for ‘Time Alone’ although generally it is intended that guests should live as ‘one of the family’ including at mealtimes whilst on the farm.

The opportunity to bring your own Pony or Cob will also be offered either for advice and help with trimming and training etc or to enable you to ride out in this area of outstanding natural beauty.

It is hoped that these informal stays will let guests benefit from the knowledge gained over four generations of the families involvement in the using and breeding of Welsh Ponies and Cobs for over a hundred years and give an insight into the various bloodlines and their suitability for various equestrian activities and also impart a little of the folklore connected with the Welsh Breeds their Breeders and Handlers that is so much a part of their history.

Should you be interested in coming to stay at Tireve during 2012 please contact Steve by email or telephone on 01550 740273 with your preferred dates and wether you wish to bring your Pony or Cob with you , for details of cost and availability.
